Creative Workshops
Empower your artistic spirit, develop a confident voice, and make peace with your body.
Driven by a culturally responsive pedagogy centered on four words: validate, affirm, build, and bridge, my workshops provide a safe space for the client’s imaginations to flourish. Through generative writing workshops, we can take something ubiquitous, and find its symbolic residence, in order to fuel our creative work. I also offer reflective writing workshops that help sexual assault survivors use writing as a healing modality.
Speaking Engagements / Poetry Readings
Providing the tools to inspire, impact, and transform.
I offer poetry readings and lectures on surviving sexual trauma, growing up economically disadvantaged, and on trusting the writing process as a tool to speak out and effect change.
I have worked to inspire high school students to imagine the possibilities of writing as a method to heal their body trauma, helped hundreds of college freshman move past procrastination and into production of their academic essays, and spoken to interfaith leaders in higher education to strategize writing methodologies to help students who have survived sexual assault on college campuses.
If you work with student services in Higher Education, a woman's/LGBTQ+ resource center, or a faith organization and you would like me to speak at your next event, contact me.
If you are looking for a visiting poet, contact me.
Individual sessions and prepaid package deals available. Fees and client list available upon request.

I know Sarah to be a most astute writer, editor, and educator, but more than that, she is exceptionally insightful and sensitive to what a work-in-progress is and what it can be. Her insights have always been incredibly helpful in my writing.

Working with Sarah was a pleasure. No stress, strain or struggle. Her persistence, patience and encouragement removed my fears and doubts and led to the release of my very first book. I highly recommend!

Sarah provided thoughtful writing prompts and helpful critiques during editing, pushing me to write outside of my comfort zone and work toward finished pieces.

Sarah is a fantastic editor. She helped me work through some poems that needed a lot of help. She got right to the heart of things, could see where I was trying to go and gave me the tools to get there. And it doesn't hurt that she's really fun to work with!
-Katie Rice
Sarah Jefferis is a phenomenal workshop leader and writing coach. Her careful and focused feedback helps me develop my craft, while her thoughtful writing prompts and questions unearth the seeds of new work.
-Kate Frazer Devokaitis
Sarah Jefferis is my writing doula! She is a joyful spirit who truly celebrates the writing process. Sarah inspires us with recitations from the talented voices of poets among us, all the while coaxing and guiding our own creative force along. In the end, a new piece of writing inevitably emerges from within our sacred writing space. I would highly recommend Sarah's workshops.
